(Is it Love or Lust?)

  13. I heartily appreciate ur well-written meaningfully sensible article. The hallowed love and even Sex has been abused and desecrated by the media and thereby corrupted our culture and society.

    Let me share my article as well :

    Since time immemorial, love, especially the one between man and woman, has never failed to be intriguing, with tales of Romeo-Juliet and our very own Heer-Ranjha being immortalized as symbols of powerful emotions. And, of late, the much-hyped culture of celebrating Valentine’s Day has added a new dimension to it. Perhaps a stream of romantic imageries and fantasies makes an ordinary shepherd a poet and an ironsmith a philosopher!
    The charm of love gets more intense when it is rightly supported by mutual understanding, tolerance and a bit of elementary sacrifice. The age-old wisdom — that one should be giving than wanting in love — aptly defines the love emotion. A true lover is a generous and kind soul who spontaneously showers the warmth of love without any expectation in any aspect. Rightly, a lover is not a beggar. However, one cannot but doubt if love still holds the same ethics as in the past and provides people with a sense of joy. The question is: Is immodesty being camouflaged in the guise of love?
    Looking at the outrageous display of sexuality all around us — television soaps, celebrity hype, films etc — one would conclude that a very perverse order has been put in place in the name of ‘love’. This has not added to love in the real sense, but has encouraged obscenity. To cite an example, the much-hyped ‘love marriage’ of celebrity couple Britney Spears and Kevin Federline did not last at all. The point is that the lifestyle of celebrities is emulated by their fans without recourse to reasoning, and the younger generation only expects glitz and glamour in love — the ‘‘expectation meter’’ being such that no room is left for compromise, as a result of which many relationships are formed and then broken in the quest for the perfect one, which seldom exists.
    Well, here’s wishing all a happy Valentine’s Day — a day cherished by those struck by the cupid, and those who would want the strengthening of the bond of love, complete with a sense of understanding, discipline and purity. Let this day serve to inspire each loving sweetheart to be more truthful to their beloved, and refrain from adhering to cheap modernity — which only serves to defile pure love.

  14. Desecration of LOVE

    I am afraid , mindless rape, molestation and kinky practice are pretty ritually in the news. It is understandable, people are fast becoming lecherous, more candidly, thirsty for flitting bodily lust.
    Here I am, however, do not want to point the accusing finger at the culprit alone. I feel, in this family of a nation, the public are mere children where the parents are the administrative machinery. It is downright incorrect to call a baby a spoilt brat if it is freely allowed to grow in the midst of ills. It is the guardians, who in fact must create an ideal environment and guard their wards from going stray or else they may be held responsible for any ill-conduct of a child.
    So is the case in the macro-mode. In the light of this sleazy development our honorable concerned authorities are quietly heaving a sigh of contentment and complacence by having been assured of hefty revenue. Thus, they unashamedly allow any ignoble stuff to happen. The closest testimony, ------- our home TVs are boldly booming with the blizzard of shows and features craftily spiced up to give a real thrill to a sex-nerve. Scantily-clad voluptuous divas shaking seductively are the stream of sights in view round the clock. Well, who on earth do not get provoked and aroused and thus start thinking otherwise while viewing a bewitching go-go girls making ample suggestion of sensuality?
    Yes, indeed, in this hi-tech age such kind of entertainments have become a part of our daily feast , perhaps intended, to give a full play to the five senses . Why to blame the sex-cell which the Almighty has designed to feed on such food though, contrary to the practice, solely for other purpose which, of course, is indispensable, inevitable and binding for the existence to sustain .
    Further, in this shambolic and rumpus world who has the nerve to retell the high-pitched proclamation from the ancient gurus and seers that this transcendental sex urge is coyly, lovingly and submissively expressed inside the thick veil of privacy? Truly, the Holy Gita, too, ordains that sex is utterly for procreation and the love be supremely held in esteem, or else the mankind may reduce to a beast.
    Sadly, no especial emphasis on morals, no inhibition, nor even rationing, it is damning indulgence and sheer abuse of the faculties of the nature given senses. Please note, aberration in behaviour, weakening of mental and intellectual aptitude and degeneration in moral ethos are obviously due to unrestrained indulgences in sense gratification.
    It is no exaggeration, these days promiscuity and adultery, pre-marital sex and the popular sex- for-a- fling, prevalent in the film world, are making inroad into a section of high society which have gradually and discreetly been stalking the middle class society as well. No wonder, all these damaging consequences are the result of ill-conceived myopic plans and schemes and, more importantly, belief in hedonism, consumerism and short term benefit.
    Here I tend to assume that our administrative machinery, instead of striving to inspire us to become a responsible, disciplined, cultured, virtuous, compassionate and patriotic citizen, has seemingly gone otherway round by mere promoting the entertainment industries to produce and air a torrent of sensual items being heedless of ominous consequences.
    Alas ! more dangerous times are sure to come where the body of humanity may reduce to a savage hole unless and until a new turn is ordained.
